?-delayed neutron emission of r-process nuclei at the N = 82 shell closure

چکیده
Theoretical models of ?-delayed neutron emission are used as crucial inputs in r-process calculations. Benchmarking the predictions these is a challenge due to lack currently available experimental data. In this work probabilities 33 nuclides important mass regions south and south-west 132Sn presented, 16 for first time. The measurements were performed at RIKEN using Advanced Implantation Detector Array (AIDA) BRIKEN detector array. P1n values presented constrain theoretical region, affecting final abundance distribution second peak A?130.

Shell - model half - lives for r - process N = 82 nuclei
We have performed shell-model calculations of the half-lives and neutron-branching probabilities of the r-process waiting point nuclei at the magic neutron number N = 82. These new calculations use a larger model space than previous shell model studies and an improved residual interaction which is adjusted to recent spectroscopic data around A = 130. Our shell-model results give a good account ...
متن کاملThe Z=82 shell closure in neutron-deficient Pb isotopes
Recent mass measurements show a substantial weakening of the binding energy difference δ2p(Z,N) = E(Z − 2, N)− 2E(Z,N) +E(Z + 2, N) in the neutron-deficient Pb isotopes. As δ2p is often attributed to the size of the proton magic gap, it might be speculated that reduction in δ2p is related to a weakening of the spherical Z = 82 shell. We demonstrate that the observed trend is described quantitat...
متن کاملβ-Decay Half-Lives of 110 Neutron-Rich Nuclei across the N=82 Shell Gap: Implications for the Mechanism and Universality of the Astrophysical r Process.
The β-decay half-lives of 110 neutron-rich isotopes of the elements from _{37}Rb to _{50}Sn were measured at the Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory. The 40 new half-lives follow robust systematics and highlight the persistence of shell effects. The new data have direct implications for r-process calculations and reinforce the notion that the second (A≈130) and the rare-earth-element (A≈160) abund...
متن کاملThe neutron long counter NERO for studies of b delayed neutron emission in the r-process
The neutron long counter NERO was built at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL), Michigan State University, for measuring b delayed neutron-emission probabilities. The detector was designed to work in conjunction with a b delay implantation station, so that b decays and b delayed neutrons emitted from implanted nuclei can be measured simultaneously. The high efficiency of ab...
متن کاملN=82 shell quenching of the classical r-process "waiting-point" nucleus 130Cd.
First beta- and gamma-spectroscopic decay studies of the N=82 r-process "waiting-point" nuclide 130Cd have been performed at CERN/ISOLDE using the highest achievable isotopic selectivity. Several nuclear-physics surprises have been discovered. The first one is the unanticipatedly high energy of 2.12 MeV for the [pi g(9/2) multiply sign in circle nu g(7/2)] 1(+) level in 130In, which is fed by t...
